Admissions & entry8 questions
Most certificate programmes require NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, or applicants aged 18+ with relevant work experience. Diploma-level programmes such as Casino Management ask for NCEA Level 3 or a recognised equivalent. Applicants without formal qualifications can be assessed individually through our recognition of prior learning process.
Applications are submitted through our online enrolment portal. You will need proof of identity, evidence of your highest qualification, a short statement of interest, and — for the Croupier School and Dealer Academy — attendance at an in-person or video aptitude interview.
Intake 12 opens on 6 October. Places across the Dealer Academy, Croupier School, Casino Management diploma and Service Excellence programme are limited by practical room capacity, so we recommend applying at least four weeks before your preferred campus's intake closes.
Yes. Many applicants apply to both a technical programme (Dealer Academy or Croupier School) and a management or service pathway to sit concurrently or in sequence. Our admissions team will advise on realistic timetabling before you commit.
Because our Dealer Academy and Croupier School graduates go on to work on licensed casino gaming floors, applicants must be 20 years or older at the time of graduation, in line with New Zealand casino employment regulations and DIA casino licensing requirements.
Absolutely — around a third of each intake has no prior industry experience. Our foundational modules are built for career changers, and our admissions interview exists specifically to identify aptitude rather than prior exposure.
You will receive confirmation within two business days, followed by an invitation to the aptitude interview (for technical programmes) or a documentation review (for management and corporate pathways). Formal offers are issued within ten business days of a completed application.
Yes, one deferral per accepted place is permitted at no charge provided you notify admissions at least fourteen days before your programme's start date. Subsequent deferrals are assessed case by case.
Fees & funding7 questions
Fees vary by programme and campus, ranging from NZ$3,200 for short Service Excellence modules to NZ$14,800 for the full Casino Management diploma. A detailed fee schedule for your chosen programme is issued with every formal offer.
Yes. Domestic students can spread fees across the length of their programme via automatic payment, typically in four to eight instalments. A NZ$500 non-refundable enrolment deposit secures your place and is credited toward the first instalment.
Selected diploma programmes are eligible for StudyLink student loans and allowances. Our student services team can confirm current eligibility for your intended programme and help with the StudyLink application process.
Many of our students are sponsored, in full or in part, by hospitality and gaming employers as part of workforce development agreements. If you are being sponsored, your employer should contact our Corporate Training division directly to arrange invoicing.
Full refunds, less the enrolment deposit, are available for withdrawals made more than ten business days before the programme start date. After that date, refunds are calculated on a pro-rata basis according to how much of the programme has been delivered. Full terms are set out in our Terms & Conditions.
Uniform and equipment fees apply to the Croupier School and Dealer Academy (typically NZ$180–$340), and Casino Management students purchase a set of prescribed texts. All additional costs are disclosed in writing before enrolment — there are no hidden charges.
A limited number of Regional Access Scholarships are available each intake for applicants relocating from outside the Auckland, Wellington or Queenstown regions, covering up to 25% of tuition. Details are published on the Programmes page ahead of each intake.
Study & assessment8 questions
Programmes combine supervised practical training on live-style equipment, classroom instruction, and workplace-based assessment. Technical programmes are weighted heavily toward practical hours; management and service programmes balance case-based learning with floor placements.
Assessment follows the Mirevontis Practice Framework, our NZQA-aligned competency model. You are assessed continuously against defined practical and theoretical standards rather than through a single end-of-course exam, with formal checkpoints at set milestones.
You are entitled to a structured re-assessment with additional coaching at no extra cost, provided you have met minimum attendance requirements. Our instructors identify at-risk learners early and build a support plan well before a formal re-assessment is needed.
Service Excellence and Corporate Training modules are available part-time and in block-release formats designed around shift work. The Dealer Academy, Croupier School and Casino Management diploma are delivered full-time due to the sequential, hands-on nature of the practical assessment.
A minimum of 85% attendance is required for practical modules, reflecting the fact that table games and service skills cannot be certified without supervised repetition. Exceptions for illness or bereavement are handled through student services on a documented basis.
Theory components across all programmes are supported by our online learning environment, allowing you to revisit lecture material and complete assessments outside class hours. Practical components remain in-person, as skills such as chip handling and service recovery cannot be certified remotely.
Practical classes are capped at twelve learners per instructor to ensure adequate table or floor time for every student. Theory sessions may combine multiple practical groups, up to a maximum of thirty-six.
The Dealer Academy covers all four core disciplines to entry standard; the Croupier School goes deeper into roulette and card-game craft. Casino cage procedure, chip control and casino surveillance awareness are woven through both programmes.
Certification7 questions
Graduates receive a Mirevontis credential specific to their programme — for example the Mirevontis Certificate in Table Games Operations or the Mirevontis Diploma in Casino Management — issued under the Mirevontis Practice Framework and NZQA-aligned unit standards where applicable.
Yes. Mirevontis certifications are recognised across the New Zealand gaming and hospitality sector, and our graduate placement relationships with major operators mean many employers actively request Mirevontis-trained candidates.
Employers can confirm the authenticity and grading detail of any Mirevontis credential by contacting our admissions team directly with the graduate's full name and certificate number, which is printed on every issued certificate.
Core technical certifications do not expire, though we recommend refresher modules every three to five years as table-game protocols, casino AML/CFT rules and Host Responsibility regulations evolve. Casino Management diploma holders receive updates to reflect any change in NZQA-aligned unit standards and DIA casino licensing requirements.
Replacement certificates can be ordered through student services for a small administration fee, provided your identity and graduation record can be confirmed against our records.
Yes. Formal appeals are lodged in writing within ten business days of a result being issued and are reviewed by an assessor who was not involved in the original grading, in line with our academic integrity procedures.
Yes. Casino AML/CFT obligations and Host Responsibility conduct are examined as standalone competencies in every technical and management pathway, reflecting DIA casino licensing expectations for staff at every level of the gaming floor.
International students5 questions
Yes, subject to Immigration New Zealand student visa requirements. Our international admissions team assists with the visa documentation process, including the offer letter and evidence-of-funds documentation Immigration New Zealand requires.
International applicants generally need IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) for certificate programmes and IELTS 6.0 for the Casino Management diploma, given the volume of guest-facing communication involved in practical assessment.
Student visa conditions typically permit up to 20 hours of work per week during the academic term, and full-time during scheduled breaks. Specific conditions are set by Immigration New Zealand and vary by visa category, so please confirm your own visa conditions.
We do not operate residential accommodation directly, but our student services team maintains a vetted list of homestay and short-term rental providers near each campus and can assist with arrangements before your arrival.
The Mirevontis Practice Framework aligns with internationally recognised gaming and hospitality competency standards, and many graduates take up roles in Australia, Macau, Singapore and the Pacific. We recommend checking specific licensing requirements in your destination jurisdiction, as gaming licences are issued locally.
Campus life & support5 questions
Each campus has a dedicated student services coordinator covering academic support, wellbeing referrals, and disability access arrangements. Wellington and Auckland also host peer mentoring groups for first-intake students.
Reception and student services are available Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:30 NZST across all three campuses. Practical rooms may operate later on assessment weeks; specific timetables are issued at the start of each module.
The Auckland head campus offers the full programme range and largest live roulette, blackjack, baccarat and poker practice pits; the Wellington management school specialises in the Casino Management diploma, casino cage procedure and corporate cohorts; and the Queenstown hospitality studio focuses on Service Excellence and casino resort-hospitality-oriented delivery.
All three campuses are within walking distance of frequent bus routes, and the Auckland and Wellington campuses have limited on-site visitor parking. Full transport notes for each site are listed on the Contact page.
Yes — each campus runs weekly open sessions, and admissions can arrange an individual tour outside those times on request. Contact our admissions line to book.
